We spent an afternoon at the tiki bar on the deck at the Chesapeake Inn. Mind you, we didn't WANT to spend an entire afternoon there, but the service was so very slow, we didn't have much choice. If you enjoy a loud venue with a very tacky tiki-bar feel where the drinks are outrageously expensive and the service is slow to non-existent, then this is the place for you. If you decide to order a pizza, here's rule #1: don't. If you must order a pizza, see rule #1. Conch fritters were balls of seasoned dough -- there was no conch discernible in either taste or texture. The calamari was good as was the edamame. Burgers were very mediocre served with a delicious side of ice-cold fries. A nice garnish of ancient tomato and wilted lettuce rounded out the effect. To be fair, the burger had a nice crunch, not from searing the meat patty on the grill, but rather from the extra stale bun. On the bright side, I didn't have to worry about brushing my teeth afterwards as the bun provided more than adequate abrasion to remove any plaque along with a thin layer of enamel. How can you go wrong with DJ Doug on the deck whipping the crowd into a frenzy with his special blend of recycled humor and insipid trivia? Where else do you go to see Cecil County's power elite with their fanny packs and mullets blazing in the sunshine. Other reviews here are right on the money (so to speak) when it comes time to pay the bill: you will be floored by just how expensive this place is. It's hard to imagine this venue is able to stay open, but apparently the boating crowd and tourists have more dollars than sense. There are many other establishments in the area where you can enjoy competent service and decent food at far less expensive prices. If you enjoy being ripped off with poor quality and poor service, then this is the place for you.

We have been going here for a couple years...mostly sit out on the deck because it is dog friendly. Fun relaxing place with good foods.

Had a very nice dinner here. The food is very good. Two warnings: 1) the service is not much better than you get at a Fridays or Applebee's (and you would expect better at a place in this price category) and 2) there is only valet parking, so have $4 ready when you pull into this place (yeah, I didn't expect to pay to park on top of the $50+ per person I paid for the dinner). On a positive note, they did have a pretty good wine list that includes a good choice of $20/bottle selections.

Awesome, right on the water, view is great, crab pretzel YUM!

I met up with some friends out on the deck. Luckily we had seats in the shade because it was incredibly hot. The acoustic guitarist that was playing/singing was pretty good. I quickly ordered the chicken salad with hardly a glance because I was late and didn't want to hold up everyone else. I was soon unhappy when it was brought to the table. I assumed it would chunky chicken salad instead it was like mushy tuna salad with little flavor. I definitely do not recommend it.

We come here annually with friends who live in the area and always have a good time. Its definitely a beachy summer spot, right on the water, where you can enjoy good friends, music, food, and drink. The only thing I have is that its a little pricey which I don't mind, but you definitely don't get good quality for your money. They have a large mixed drink menu. The drinks average about $10 a pop and they're usually watered down and not good versions of what they're supposed to be. For example the mojito was very sweet, I could hardly taste any rum or mint. The beer prices are average so its probably best to stick with a beer so you know what you're getting. The food is just okay. Its not BAD but its not cravable. We had the crab pizza which is essentially a cheese pizza with crab on it. Not bad but not worth the money. We also got the fried calamari and it was more of the rings than the tenticles (our favorite part!) and it didn't have a whole lot of flavor. They were nicely fried though, but it just didn't feel like we were eating calimari. They could have fried anything and it would have tasted the same! They have bands play and they're usually decent. The crowd is definitely worth watching. Anyway we'll go again because its fun with friends. But I wouldn't seek it out for a phenominal meal.

You do pay for the location, but it is a nice location due to being on the water. Our server was real good and made sure my beer did not get empty before I got another one. The food was was fine. Did enjoy that they had a band playing. They were fine and not so loud that you could not talk to the others at our table.

Hadn't. Been here for a very long time and was pleasantly surprised...the pulled pork tacos were excellent...well cooked ample servings...and filling...then had the half pound steamed shrimp...they were cooked perfectly and were very tasty...only complaint is the drinks were weak and the deck was crowded and noisy...but that's to be expected in a dock side restaurant/bar...will defiantly try again...2nd visit, had the tacos again to see if they were consistent, and they are very good! Only complaint is they weren't hot. Had wings which were satisfactory.

We came here twice on our way to Philadelphia for work. The first time, we sat at the bar and it was fine. The food was ok, we mostly ate appetizer stuff. On our second visit, we stopped in for dinner and sat in the dining area. The food again was fine, nothing spectacular. When it came time to pay the bill, we were surprised to find we were charged for each soda refill as a new soda. Only two of us had soda and were surprised that we were being charged $10 for it. Turns out, there are no free refills. That would have been nice to know, especially since it's basically standard for free soda refills at most restaurants. When we brought it up to our waitress, she apologized for not telling us and said she would see if the manager could remove it from the bill. The manager then came over and spoke with us. She said if she made an exception for us, she would have to make it for everyone. She was extremely rude to us and made all kinds of excuses and said she was 'pretty sure' the menu said no free refills. She didn't actually bother to confirm that though and again, was extremely rude. Basically, I would never ever return here because of the manager's attitude.

Stopped into the Chesapeake Inn for lunch following a visit to the Turkey Point Lighthouse. The weather was fantastic, so we were able to sit out on the deck. The menu is extensive with a wide array of items ranging from pizza to platters. On a nice day, the deck is a very cool place to sit, relax, and enjoy your day. The service was good, we quickly got our drinks and the waitress was continually checking on us. We got some cocktails, (Dirty Banana) and crab nachos. The drinks were good, the food was satisfying and the overall experience was quality. Next time we are in MD we will be stopping in!
(4)Kurt H.
Always good food and service. We usually pull our boat up to their dock. You can either eat on your boat or get seated inside or out. Never had a problem here. Bathrooms are clean too!
(5)Steve I.
I have been coming here for years, and the place never disappoints. Some time when the weather is nice we sit out on the deck and enjoy a pizza and drinks, other time we go up stairs to the dining room for white tablecloth service, and some times we just hang at the bar with probably the best bartender in the world Tom. The food is good and a favorite is the Lobster Grilled Cheese which is usually stuffed with large chunks of tail and claw meat. The oysters are always a treat in the six ways they prepare them. The view of the C&D canal can not be beat.

I went to Chesapeake Inn with my boyfriend the Saturday before Valentine's Day, and made a reservation for 7:45. Although we had reservations, we were told that the wait would still be about 20 minutes, which was fairly accurate. The hostess was very nice and apologetic about this, and we decided to wait at the bar for our table. Our bartender, Max, was very friendly, and brought us our drinks right away. They have about five or six beers on tap, the best of which are probably Blue Moon, Sam Adams, or Yuengling (no craft beers, but we were told we were the only ones to order just beer all night, so that would explain that!) When we were finished with our first round, our table was ready. My boyfriend ordered the filet mignon and crab cake, and I ordered the crab ravioli. Both were very good! It was a bit pricey, but the atmosphere was just what we were looking for, and it's probably the fanciest place around for miles. The waitress was okay, it was not the best nor the worst service we've had. There is a parking lot for this restaurant, but you have to use their valet parking service which was $4-5. We opted to not pay for this service, and easily found street parking about a block away. There is also a coat check service, but when we went to leave, no one was there. I am assuming she doesn't stay after a certain time of night (we left after 9) but the hostess was happy to get my coat for me. All in all it was a nice dinner close to the bed and breakfast we were staying at, and that's all we were looking for.

Came back here with my mom for mother's day buffet but was not as pleased as the first time. The buffet featured barely any seafood. There were no crabs, shrimp, or clams/mussels. There wasn't even any fresh high quality fish..just frozen and steamed tilapia, tuna filet type of stuff. The rest of the menu wasn't very good either and featured steamed pastas, potatoes, carrots, marinara sauce overload--cheap sides you can make at home. They had a carving station but the roast beef and turkey weren't cooked very well. The dessert station looked good with cream puffs, eclairs, cheese cakes and such, but they were mostly pre-packaged finger foods. Do not expect bakery-style triple layered chocolate cakes. I was disappointed they did not even feature pecugio gelatos like their regular menu has. Instead it was regular large bucket ice cream. Service and seating were horrendous. It took a 45 minute wait to get seated and served with drinks because they were backed up by 30 minutes worth of reservations. The tables were crammed too close together and when I got up to get food, I had to suck my stomach in to get out between my table and another couple's table. It was awkward because I had to stick either my front end or bum in their table to pass. The waitress barely came too refill drinks because they were waiting too many tables. I dropped $80 for two people (including tips) but got old country buffet quality food. If you come here, please do not come for their special holiday buffets. Come during regular times when they are operating on a full menu. You'll probably end up paying a little more but the food is way better when the chef makes it just for you instead of mass producing it in trays.

Hard to rate! Five stars for the Chef, who actually came to our table to explain the sourcing of fresh fish, when we had questions for the server. Two stars for the service. But being fair, we may have caused the problem ourselves. We dined early on a trip with my wife's father. As we were being seated, we noticed a ten-top awaiting guests next to us. I asked, "When is the large party next to us going to be seated and any idea how noisy they may be?" Whether that was the cause or not, the service was very rushed. If our inquiry was not the cause, then slow down folks. If the goal was to turn our table 2x or even 3x (since we've seen reviews that the restaurant is "busy late"), then exercise caution about dining here. Chesapeake Inn received an enthusiastic recommendation from another local Chef. Certainly, the Chesapeake Inn's Chef merited that confidence. Dine and enjoy, but let your sever know up front if you want to take your time and savor the meal.

Whatever you do don't order crab pretzel. Mine was ice cold in the middle and burnt on outside. Complaint filed w/mgr who admitted it was a "frozen product" from a distributor. So much for fresh crabmeat in MD and the steep price tag! He offered to refund my credit card which 6 weeks later never happened after many attempts reaching them. So basically I'm warning others that the mgmt sux they offer false promises, inferior food quality and high prices.

Soup to nuts this place was solid fine dining. The menu offered a lot of fresh local daily seafood specials (including local yellowtail--wow) although we opted for the more standard local fare--crab "cordon bleu" for an appetizer, a double portion of crab cakes, seafood penne a la vodka with crab, shrimp and scallops, a ramekin of potatoes au gratin, and spaghetti for the little one (they do have a children's menu). My only gripe is that the menu was brutally a la carte. Everything was ultra-savory. Gin and tonic was poured strong, like it should be. The location was awesome. We ate on the terrace which was virtually empty, but the patio below, where the band was playing, was far busier (I believe they also have more of a pub grub menu down there) The view was great. Granted it was a Sunday night but I can't remember the last time I was at a restaurant that had such a perfect combination of ambience, festivity, tranquility, and top-notch, traditionally-prepared seafood. P.S. The area is quiet, quaint, and a perfect place to take a nice digestive stroll.

I was recommended this place by a neighbor and a coworker so i thought id try it out. The place was very hard to find using GPS. When we arrived our waitress took forever getting our drinks. when we finally got our drinks they were infested with bugs. the outside corridor had bugs all over flying so we had to cover everything. I ordered Crab pizza and a sushi. it took over 45 min for anything to come out. Talked to the manager he comped our food however we had to pay for our watered down drinks. The service was slow. Would not recommend. Only good thing about this place is the view at sunset!
(2)XB S.
Nice environment but bad service. Food and drinks took forever to come out. Waiter keeps forgetting to bring stuff that we asked for. For the amount we paid last night, we expected the food to be good. Disappointed with the food. Crab cake tasted weird. Both steaks were warm. Won't be coming back here! Don't waste your money, go else where.
(2)Mike I.
Come here at least 1-2 times per year, and sit on the patio overlooking the C&D Canal. Lots of fun watching the boats shuffle in and out of the slips while enjoying tropical drinks, and beers. They have something for everyone on their menu from sushi, to sandwiches, full entrees, or pizza. Great live music can be heard on weekends. Don't miss out on the soft shell blt, or the sweet corn on the cob with a dusting of old bay.
(4)Candi G.
Love this place! Depending on where you sit you get a great view of the marina. I came here for brunch and they have a wide assortment of food. Something for everybody ranging from omelettes, pasta, sushi, and all types of seafood and meat. Oh, and they have a dessert table too. I would come here again in a heartbeat. I would suggest making a reservation. Only downfall was that my server didn't explain the flow of the brunch and he also was very inattentive. I had to keep getting his attention when I needed something because he rarely came to check on our table. Overall, definitely check this place out!
(4)Morgan G.
The food is decent but it's nothing special. The service is alright but again, nothing special. It gets really crowded and sometimes trashy on the weekends, making it impossible to get drinks within a decent time frame. This is another place where I'm not fond of the crowd but it's not too bad. A lot of older men and women go here, but then again there's a lot of 20somethings here too. They get live music which is fun but the dance floor is too small so we end up sitting outside. There are honestly better places to sit that aren't 30 minutes away and don't charge as much. I don't really understand why there's a cover charge but I guess they just need the money to pay for the bands that we've never heard of before that aren't that good. Lastly, there is nearly no parking so you're stuck doing valet. I think the valet is only $3 or $5, I can't remember though. This place is much better if you drink copious amounts of alcohol beforehand and go with a large group of friends.

Hands up for this restaurant!!! I love this place! I often find that restaurants on the water lack in the quality of food however this place delivers 100 percent. I love the service, drinks, atmosphere, and especially watching the boats come in and the cast of characters accommodating this establishment. Great food and a quaint little town to walk around in. I highly recommend coming here for a day trip with your sweetheart! I love love this place!!!
(5)Sherry J.
Nick and his girlfriend Stephanie brought me here for lunch for Mother's Day. It was a beautiful day and we sat out on the deck. I had several Lava Flows, and we shared steamed shrimp which were big and juicy and delicious. I had the fish tacos which were cooked perfectly, Nick had the chicken salad BLT which he liked, and I'm not sure if Steph had a chicken or pork sandwich which looked really good. We ended the day with Cinnamon Toast Crunch shots! It was very crowded but service was great and we had a fun day!
(4)Julie N.
Great dinner. I had the filet and crab cake with a baked potato. Boyfriend had the fresh trout with creole seasoning and crab bisque. Tasty Pama Tini and good selection of beers. The bread was delicious. Only downside was that they only had valet parking and nowhere else to park. Next up the deck which looks awesome.
(4)Scott A.
Cool and classy spot right on the water. Wonderful views and top notch service. Unfortunately I am not a seafood aficionado, so I cannot speak to the house specialties. I had a chicken special that was very well done though. Mac n Cheese side was recommended and delivered. A little pricy for my blood, but you are paying for the location and service here.
(4)John M.
Went for a late lunch/early dinner 6/23/2015. Fabulous experience! Excellent service & beautiful views. Great food & drinks. Innovative menu, beautifully plated. A definite destination for a future trip.
(5)Dawn R.
First time I've ever been disappointed by a Caprese Salad. The salad part was missing. The smoked tuna & carb Mac appetizers good. The crab pretzel an pork bbq sandwich good. But no salad with the salad was a major disappointment.
(3)Adriane N.
7I am a foodie with a huge appetite and a small place to store all of the food I'm craving. That being said, it's rare that I'm able to eat all three courses of a meal by myself. However, the food here was so good and so fresh I felt like I'd be doing the food an injustice by leaving it on my plate. I ate everything. The service is great and the drinks are pretty good too, but the food is amazing. I was with a party of 20 and we all cleaned our plates. Later in the evening it turns into a party atmosphere and they have live bands with great talent. You're destined to have a good time here. The only downside to this place is that the parking sucks. Valet was full at 7:30 when we got there so we had to park a few blocks away, but don't let that deter you from experiencing the culinary goodness of this place. Good food. Good atmosphere. Beautiful view. Go.
(4)Aleisha H.
Absolute favorite hangout! The outdoor dining area is relaxed & fun with great food. Great place to just sit outside, have a drink, & share great conversation with friends. The outdoor menu has variety & the food comes quickly. The wait staff are courteous & prompt. The indoors is excellent!!! The menu indoors is different from the outside menu. The inside is elegant & the food is excellent. Again the wait staff is friendly, knowledgeable & attentive. Note: only giving 4 stars as the indoor wait staff could use clean aprons. I have come early in the day (after the restaurant opened & the aprons were dirty). The manager should really handle this minor oversight.
(4)Jill K.
Little customer service here!! Called ahead for seating for 10 and was told that they would try to accommodate us and that they weren't very busy... We showed up 15 minutes later, waited for 5 minutes and they told us that they had a very large party coming and that they couldn't accommodate us. I wish they would have told me that when I called! Hostess was clueless! I called Schaffers across the canal and they took a reservation and had the table for 10 waiting when we arrived 10 minutes later! Everyone at Schaffers was helpful and friendly!!!

Stopped in the Ever Popular Chesapeake Inn Restaurant, while staying in Chesapeake City. I WAS NOT disappointed! I truly enjoyed the BEST CRAB BISQUE I've had! Creamy, not PASTEY, Plenty of Select Lump Crab Meat, with Perfectly Balanced Hints of Butter & Sherry. I enjoyed the CREATIVE, FIG BRUSCETTA, and The Lobster Grilled Cheese, was an excellent choice for lunch. Being a Southern Chef, I HAD to sample the Fried Green Tomato Appetizer. I was happy with all of my choices! While I was there, I was watching the staff. The Manager was preparing the Deck outside for an upcoming event. I was IMPRESSED by the "Attention to Detail" he exhibited, while giving direction to the maintenance staff. He TRULY CARED about the satisfaction of the Customers!! Chesapeake Inn hosts many events, and specials. They have a Ballroom, and with the staffs "Attention to Detail", I'm sure it would be a GREAT PLACE to hold a Wedding, and or Special Event! Can't wait to come back for dinner! ENJOY, CHEF GARY CURRY!
(4)Jeff T.
Attended a wedding here, very classy venue. I've heard about the Chesapeake Inn for years now but had never been in, so it was nice to finally check the place out. The ballroom where the reception was was very impressive. The room is huge and has very cool multi-colored lights in the corners of the ceilings, and a very pretty star-light center of the ceiling. The staff were all very friendly, and the views of the harbor from inside are gorgeous. I want to come back and eat in the restaurant for sure, but this is definitely a fantastic and scenic venue for weddings and events.

We were being tourists in our own state so to speak and yelped a few places in the area we were in and stumbled across this gem. Marina in the title is really what sealed the deal; places by the water are ideal this time of year. When we pull up we notice that there was valet parking and it was inexpensive; so far so good. We get inside and was seated right away. Our waitress was very sweet and gave us detailed specifics of the menu and she was even nice enough to explain to us about what we could do in the area to include taking a boat ride and provided us with literature on the town and surrounding areas..kudos to her for that. On to the food. For starters, I had the crab and artichoke fondue. It was great. Portioned well and tasted very fresh; I could tell they used top notch ingredients. For the main courses, I had a seafood burrito and fruit as my side; my guy had salmon, mixed vegetable, and fries w/old bay (you had the option of not having old bay on your fries as well). We always dibble and dabble on each others plates and both our meals were great. The only downer was the lemonade; it wasn't fresh squeezed, so it was just okay; I drank some of it, but quenched my thirst with water.. Oh and my burrito lacked a little flavor; nothing a little salt and other spices couldn't fix, though I know some restaurants are cautious in this regard, so I understood; it was still good otherwise. Oh and how could I forget to mention the bread....OMG. I am a huge lover of bread and this bread is the absolute best bread that I've ever had at any restaurant-EVER. It was a perfectly baked french bread that was made how it was supposed to be made with a nice crispy outside and warm chewy inside..it was so delicious. We had two baskets..LOL. And surprisingly it didn't fill us up too much; maybe we were just that hungry. Nonetheless I'd come back for the bread alone. The atmosphere was so nice. I like to eat outside whenever possible, but my guy doesn't, so I made the compromise and sat indoors and people watched from the inside. We had an amazing view of the boats and the marina. It was a beautiful day and a wonderful meal. We'd definitely return.
(4)Mr D.
We have a great time every time we stop in... by boat or car. We were there this past Tuesday and the beer was cold and tasted like the beer lines and taps were clean. BTW..very important! Last time we came by...beer was bitter.... Although pricey, our beer, pizza, and shrimp were very good. See you soon.
(4)Michael R.
There is a good atmosphere with live, but not too loud, music. We sat on the water's edge. Brittany did a great job as our waitress. The sushi was just okay, but I never order tempura, my wife wanted it. The creole pasta was perfect with very good bread to go with it. The drinks were good and there was a good selection of specialty drinks if that's your thing.
(4)Kimberly E.
8 year customer, finally giving up. The food and service here has significantly declined over the years as they have chosen quantity and scale over quality. The beautiful view doesn't even make up for it anymore. Not only is it overpriced, but everything on the menus is a 50/50 toss up of if it will be good or not. Tonight was enough to put me over the edge. Cue my family walking in to the back deck. I had left my purse in the car (and therefore did not have my ID) and was told that I could either let them draw two giant X's on my hands with an extra thick sharpie or leave. 21+ people get wristbands. I understand they're worried about people sharing the wristbands and losing their liquor license, but there are other ways that you can not put ill smelling skin staining chemicals all over your customers who just want to come in for dinner. There are other ways. If the management even reads these reviews and cares, contact me to hear how an UPSCALE establishment mitigated this risk. Now we get to the table. By the bar on the inside portion of the back deck. All of the music being played in here is slow and depressing (literally the song from the Sarah McLachlan abused puppies commercial). The lighting is poor. Waitress comes. Ask her which of two items she preferred because I could decide. Punchline: she doesn't eat seafood, and therefore hasn't tried 90% of the menu here (which by the way, recently added sushi that I don't know I would trust). My Crab Cobb salad comes out, and the crab is literally flavorless. As it the Gorgonzola cheese its topped with. And the "bacon and avocado" toppings that were also supposed to be on it were more like garnishes and basically nonexistent. They didn't even have a dressing to recommend for it, which you absolutely need when you're incorporating seafood into a salad. So I went with honey mustard. Really had no idea what to pair it with. Not to mention, I get a whiff of sharpie every time I raise my fork to my mouth. Yum. I had predicted this, so I also got the Chesapeake Corn on the Cob to make sure I didn't go hungry. Also a disappointment. It was over boiled, and therefore watery, and came in a puddle of its own said wateryness. Other people at my table got the Baby Clam Pizza (extra garlicky, but good) and the Sriracha Lobster was also a hit. That was the only thing saving this meal. Time for the check. The waitress is slow and unenthusiastic, to top her lack of knowledge on the restaurants cuisine. Which was even further frustrating because we couldn't WAIT to get out by that point. In summary, give them a year to shape up. Management: scale back your menu, train your cooks, hire better waitstaff, and find a less AWFUL way to deal with minors/people without ID.

UPDATE on the UPDATE I made in December. Again I'd like to thank the manager that responded originally However, I won't be back after my second trip a month ago. The wait staff is incredibly inhospitable. The 2nd time up last month involved a waitress telling us we couldn't move into the dining room where the band was playing because they were still seating people there. HELLO, we'd just ordered over $150 worth of food outside on the dock! All we wanted to do was come in and listen to the band AND order more drinks! Anyway, she said she misunderstood us. Yeah right! The place really needs some bathrooms added as well. They have ONE set of bathrooms and you better like long lines or better yet or just going in your pants! This is the case whether you are male or female. Like I said, I won't be back and neither will anyone that was with me that night.
(2)Craig S.
We had a very nice meal which included: sushi, seafood pizza and a big bacon cheese burger. We sat outside next to the water and listened to a live band playing music. It was a very nice time. We would go back again
(4)Eriksson H.
Great menu with great food to match. Great beer/cocktail menu. Awesome service. Great waterfront views. Really can't say enough good things about this. Every restaurant should take this approach. My new favorite place.
(5)Gwynedd D.
The view as you drive in is divine, especially at sunset. Too bad the food doesn't even come close. The parking is a problem--due to their location. If you pass the first entrance, you figure out it's valet only or drive into town. Not a big lot. But let that pass--they are on the water and it is "what it is." The food, however, is not. We started with drunken clams. These had escaped their shells and were swimming madly to shore and they'd obviously bribed the waitress not to bring a spoon to scoop them up. And they were bitter. What was with that. We asked her about it and got the usual shrug of the uninterested youth of today. No answer. "I'll ask the chef." Right. Like you'll do that. (She didn't. Poison? Overenthusiastic use of bitters?/) The calamari were not memorable, the sauce thin and dank. The main dishes: sirloin salad and ahi tuna salad were made well (days?) in advance. My tuna was ice cold and tasted of the fridge. Several things in the fridge. Not good. The sirloin apparently suffered the same issue and the dressing was flavorless over leathery greens. The third member of the party had fish and chips, which was that frozen Gorton's style battered fish and hard as a week-old bagel. The fish itself had a strong iodine flavor. The fries were supposed to come with Old Bay but just looked limp. Food, meh. Double meh, for being made in advance. If I want leftovers from my fridge, I can stay home for that. A beautiful view does not excuse a restaurant from actually serving food they prepare. If I wanted premade salad, I'd stop at Wawa.
(2)Dan A.
Went back after several years. Got a perfect table right on the water. Crab cake and sushi were very good. Server was friendly and efficient. People watching is the best- and so glad to see such a diverse crowd!
(4)B T.
I so love this place. Fine dining upstairs, worth every penny. Casual dining downstairs or out on the deck. Fantastic food no matter where you sit, service is always great, not to mention the beautiful views of the always lovely C & D canal.

The upstairs dining room is excessively overpriced for the portion sizes, service and quality. Entrees include no sides at $25-$35 a pop. Sides range from $6-$9 and are nothing special. The service was slow, although the server was nice. My boyfriend ordered a buffalo steak which came out looking damaged and old, sitting in a pool of its own watery jus. The meat was cold and when we asked for it to be re-done they clearly just popped it in the microwave, it came out chewy, again sitting in the same watery grave. We were so surprised and had such high expectations given the prices on the menu, and we're, needless to say, throughly disappointed.

Went here for lunch with a co worker to try and enjoy the nice day. Only reason this gets two stars is the view/atmosphere and pleasant waitress. First off a glass of iced tea is almost $3???!?!!?! This isn't starbucks or some fancy coffee house. Get it together. For my lunch I ordered a Itialian Panini that came with a side of marina for dipping. The sandwich was OK. Nothing memorable. Definitely not $13 worth. Maybe happy hour is a better deal. But not a good lunch spot IMHO.

Went to a beautiful anniversary party. Gorgeous view and the sparkling stars on the ceiling added a nice ambience as the evening set in. Food was delicious -- the salmon and chicken good but the roast pork was out of the world!! Bar was nice and bartender and staff were friendly. Loved the bathrooms!! Individual stalls nicely remodeled.

I gave it a shot....three strikes and you're out unfortunately. Won't be going back here anytime soon. Way overpriced. You think you're ordering a "normal" drink but they must train the servers to bring you "doubles" or charge you for the specialty glass or cup because when your bill arrives you will have a heart attack. The food was good enough...the scenery was beautiful but the service wasn't that great. This place has so much potential and always so crowded but CI is a place most people can only afford once in a while. I once found a bug in my drink (they brought me a new one, but I still had to pay for it) and a hair in my food. Hair in food is where I have to draw the line. Gag barf puke! It's really too bad because this place has so much potential. It does get really crowded so obviously they don't care of they ever get my business again. A good server would have sent the manager to us and offered us something to make us feel better about the quality of some of the things we ordered (bugs and hair). But no one said anything to us other then, "Oh sorry". By the time you find a place to park your car you will arrive already in a foul mood. So to CI......Sorry but you won't be getting my business, my family's business, my friends business or my coworkers business anymore. You wanna go to great place on the water? Try Aqua Sol off of 71 nears Lums Pond State Park. It's on the water. Food is always good. Reasonably priced. Live Entertainment. Excellent service.

Lovely outdoor bar area and great food! AMAZING crab cakes. The crab and spinach dip was fantastic. I though the crab avocado martini was just okay (wasn't a fan of the honey vinaigrette). The mojitos are just right. Listened to an acoustic cover band playing some great music. Overall loved my experience here.

Usually, if you hear someone talk about going to Chesapeake City for dinner or to hangout with friends, more-than-likely, they are going to the Chesapeake Inn. Recently, my wife and I met up with some friends here to enjoy the spring weather. This place is located on the C&D cannel. On nice sunny days, the boats are docked in front of the deck area. This makes me wish I had a boat. I digressed. The drink prices are not bad. The day I went I was literally drinking buckets of tropical drinks. The menu features many crab dishes. We ordered the crab nachos and crab fries. Now some places have crab fries on their menu that use old bay seasoning and have no crab meat, but not this place. The fries are in some kind of béchamel sauce with real crabmeat. A few people (including my wife) ordered the crab cakes sandwiches - which are HUGE. I wish I ordered a crab cake for my entree instead of the soft shell crab BLT. The bacon was great, but you could have put French fries in the sandwich instead of soft shell crab and I would have not known the difference. The crab was over-fried which made it very dry. There is normally a band and a DJ that plays on weekends. This place gets packed during the warm weather months. If memory serves me correctly, their brunch is not bad either.

Love the whole place. The main dining is beautiful and delicious food, but the deck is my favorite part. Very cozy and cool atmosphere. Drinks are a touch pricey, and they don't ask what size you want- they just bring you the most expensive.. so that's why only 4 stars cause I'm not impressed by that. But the food was good, and I'm looking forward to going back!

One of the best views in town. The chowder was great! The decor was a little contrived and bourgie, but I think it's trying for a elevated banquet hall feel, which makes sense given that there was a big party going on while we were there.

Lovey brunch on the water. Valet parking. Good service. The eggs Benedict chesapeake (lump crab & spinach, two poached eggs & old bay hollandaise) was perfectly cooked and my partner raved about her whole grain pancakes. Mimosas were nice and strong. We plan to return again soon for lunch on the deck.

A group of co-workers and myself headed over to Chesapeake Inn this past Thursday for a happy hour get together on the deck. It was about a 30 minute drive from work in Delaware. Btw is anyone else disturbed by the chained up Ronald Mcdonald bench outside someone's house? Anyway you hit a dead end then turn left and you see the boats on the water to your right along with Summit Bridge. Gorgeous. The restaurant is huge and the outdoor deck monsterous with a cute tiki hut and various tropical islandy style decor. I absolutely love the cover band which played everything from Fall Out Boy to Goteye to DMB. The music was enough to enhance the mood without being so intrusive we couldn't have a conversation-major points scored for nailing ambience. Being a first timer I opted to do the $4 valet parking but will probably park in town in the future where my co-workers did. Once we met up, drinks and apps were ordered. The drinks were so strong none of us had a second. There was a Thursday special for $6 frozen drinks but I went with the cheap sunglasses (not cheap at $12.50) which was fruity coconutty goodness. For apps we tried the crab pretzel, the sampler with coconut shrimp/mozzy sticks/fried chicken fingers and fries, and the clams. The best app was the crab pretzel however it was just average. I'm pretty sure the sampler was all frozen stuff defrosted and despite the exciting treatment described in the menu for the clams they tasted like they were steamed in water. For dinner I asked the waiter whether he would recommend the lobster mac and cheese sandwich or the Lobster Fra Diavolo Pizza. He said it was a tough call but leaned toward the pizza. I went with the pizza and as result my order came out about 5 minutes before my co-workers. The waiter took it upon himself to bring plates in case I wanted to share my dinner with the table--that was awkward. Luckily only one co-worker took me up on the waiter's offer lol. The lobster meat was generous on the pizza but I felt like the other ingredients on the pizza didn't mesh well together. Maybe the ratio of arugula to mozzerella was off or maybe it was that the center of the pizza was still raw and doughy. Firestone restaurant makes a much better lobster pizza. When my co-workers food came the crabcake sandwich looked delicious. Two other co-workers ordered the lobster mac and cheese sandwich each but our waiter misunderstood and split one sandwich and fries between the two of them lol. Seeing the one girl's face as a kiddie sized plate was placed in front of her was the funniest moment of the night. Everyone agreed the food was good but the drinks and ambience are the highlight of this restaurant.

Good food, fun atmosphere, service was okay. The only gripe was when I came in on a jetski it was hard to get anyone's attention to get a slip and get seated for dinner. Otherwise the food is delicious

I have been wanting to try this restaurant. Went there today, Sun 7/20/14 at 4pm. Hostess very nice, immediately greeted us and seated us inside at our request. No one else inside. After sitting at our table and reading the menu for 10 mins, no one even acknowledged us or asked if we wanted drinks, so we left. Since we did not get service, I cannot speak of their food quality, but after 10 min of reviewing their menu I was disappointed in their selection.

Over priced. Slow service even on a non busy hours. Food was average and Margarita was a joke. They has overcharged me by 10.00 on top of the generous tips I gave. The bill total was 71.04 and I signed the tip at 12.96 which was more than 18% and that was a total of 84.00.Turned out the online statement shows 94.00. Soon as I found out that they overcharged me, I called the restaurant up and told the person on the phone about discrepancy, instead of trying to help fix the problem he treat me with an attitude that makes me feel as if I was begging for food. He refuse to take my phone number to have a person in-charge call me back and settle the problem, he instead said that I have to call them back again in an hour or two. What kind of business they are running? I am totally dissatisfied. If you are paying by credit card please be aware. While it is true that $10.00 these days is nothing, but the fact that they were stealing tipped me off. Update: $10.00 was adjusted off from my bill 5 days later. To be fair I decide to add one more star for correcting their mistake.

We went out with some friends on their boat and drove it all the way down to MD and had lunch here. Apparently they had just opened the deck for the season and although it was a bit chilly, we enjoyed eating on the water out there. The food was pretty good. We all shared the crab nachos which were tasty and my fiance and I split a pizza which was also pretty yummy. I think this would definiltey be a great place to have a few beers in the warm summer months late into the evening...

Good ambiance and good view. I'd give a 3.5 stars if I could, but alas. And it's more like a 3 and not a 4 because although the place's nice, there are simply too many similar upscale waterfront restaurants that can easily compete (though I do understand those don't exist in Chesapeake City yet). It's not hard to see why Chesapeake Inn is a prime destination for weddings. It's spacious, has outdoor seating on two floors, and the view right on the canal is hard to beat. To date it's also the only restaurant in Chesapeake City that takes OpenTable reservations. Onto the food. I got the ahi tuna, which was supposed to be served rare. The server confirmed with me this would be okay, but when it came it was definitely not rare. It was more like medium well and I could barely see any pink flesh even in the middle of the tuna steak. But the entree did come with two sides (veggies of the day and I picked wild rice as a second side) and was reasonably priced. When we visited on Saturday night there was an entirely separate menu for downstairs dining room with live music (there was also a cover charge for that). They have different types of fish on rotation (I'm guessing daily) and you'll have interesting choices (there was golden tilefish when we visited). Complimentary warm bread with olive oil. Service isn't exactly comparable to that at a 5-star restaurant (thus my 3 stars), but it's a good place in town to have a nice meal while enjoying some good view.

A group of 4 of us ate here on 5/17. It has been awhile since I have come here for dinner and not drinks. We started with the calamari, raw oysters, stuffed mushrooms, and the "hairy Mexican" sushi roll. The calamari was extremely subpar. It tasted like something you can buy frozen in the grocery store. The stuffed mushrooms were good. The sushi roll was excellent! I would highly recommend it. For dinner we had the penne pasta, veal chop saltimbocca, swordfish, and the Mahi Mahi with crab imperial. The penne dish was very good. The cream sauce was not too heavy and there was a generous amount of seafood. The swordfish and Mahi Mahi were both dry. The veal chop was by far the best item of the night. It was cooked perfectly and had a really good sauce on top. The downside to our dinner was the wait. The restaurant was not that crowded, but we waited a really long time for our food. We were seated at 7:40, and our entrees arrived at exactly 9:25. The gap of time between the appetizers and entrees was ridiculous. The waitress pointed out that the veal chop took a long time to prepare. We expressed that we would have appreciated being told this when we ordered it. The bottom line was that this was an average dining experience. The next time I go out for seafood, I will be going across the bay to Schaefer's.

Holy expensiveness! I am all for mixed crowds hanging out at a tiki bar on the water. Doesn't get much more summery than that in my book. Yet, I don't think ill be able to afford to go back anytime soon. First,I ordered a fun "specialty drink," thinking, "Hey, why not! I won't be able to do this after next month, going to soak up this warm air right!" Price was on point with bars in St.Thomas or other beachy getaway paradises. Who would have known ordering mixed (RAIL) drinks like rum and coke or a shot of whatever would both run you $10 a pop?!? I mean, we AREN'T in the beautiful destination of the USVI, after all. Just because I'm out to have a good time doesn't mean I'm willing to pay $300 to do so. Especially when the drinks were watered down! The place was packed, however, so they definitely aren't hurting for my business! It is a shame though because I thought this was going to be my new summer spot!

This review is for the inside nicer restaurant (not the deck). My husband and I visited the In for dinner. I got the filet mignon. The steak was so tough there's no way it was a filet and if so it was the worse cut of the tenderloin that should have been tossed in the trash!! Our waitress went MIA after our food came out and I was STARVING so I ate most of it even though my jaw hurt from chewing the horrible meat. When she finally came back to our table I explained how the meat was really chewy and overcooked. She insisted on getting me a comp dessert but I was no longer hungry so I declined. She then went to search for a manager who said she couldn't do anything for our bill bc I ate some of the steak!! First of all I wasn't asking for anything to be done about the bill nor did I want a free dessert!! But now that the manager went out of her way to do NOTHING about the horrible meal they served I was mad!! It wasn't cheap either. Had her waitress come and check on us earlier I wouldn't have had to eat any of it! I just feel this is bad business especially since they are supposed to be an upscale restaurant! We won't be back!!

Awesome happy hour 4-6pm Mon-Fri. Great selection of pitchers and drafts half price at the Tiki Bar. Pizza, burgers, nachos, and the rest of the food nothing special on the deck, but if your are hungry it will do. Love the accoustic music 4-8 too under the Tiki. Nice location on the water and a great place to visit in the summer. Parking a bit of a challenge unless you valet, but there is lots of free parking a short 2 blocks away in town and you get a 2 fer seeing quaint Chesapeake City. Very safe. Plenty of tables for families. Nice crowd and always a fun time. Tip - take advantage of the HH pricing. Gets expensive after 6pm and on weekends. $9 frozen drinks and $4.50 and up for beer.

One of my good friends had her wedding reception here and everything was awesome. The staff was extremely friendly and the food was tasty. The ballroom was decorated beautifully and it was wonderful to be able to go out on the deck and enjoy the pleasant evening. Everyone had a wonderful time and the staff certainly made the night that much better. I would definitely return for dinner one night the next time I find myself in Chesapeake City. My one complaint is that during the dinner service, one of the servers served our table with soup and never mentioned that there was shellfish in it. I don't expect every ingredient to be listed, but since Hubs is deathly allergic to shellfish, it could have ended badly. Fortunately, someone at our table knew it was crab bisque and mentioned it. As we were leaving the reception, the bartenders and wait staff were helping guests make sure they were safe to drive home, calling cabs if necessary, and even helped us make sure we knew how to get back to I-95. Totally awesome.

Expensive. To sum it up you're basically paying for the ambience. My husband and I stop in here often to listen to live music and have a few drinks on the deck. Drinks are typically $10 a pop, ordering just two drinks a piece you end up spending more money on drinks than you do on actual food! That on top of having to pay a cover during certain times just to sit on the deck. The food is hit and miss. I've had really good items like the soft crab BLT and pizza and then some they weren't so good like the old bay boneless wings. Overall if you're passing through Chesapeake City this place is a must visit and don't worry about your pets; dogs are always welcome on the deck.

Came in and sat outside by the bar on one of the first sunny Sunday after a harsh winter. It was busy with others who had the same idea. Service was great and the food was surprisingly good considering that it is generally hard to find a place with both good views and food.

We came here a few months ago to have lunch and see what the place would be like for a wedding reception. If you're thinking of this place as a wedding reception location, it's beautiful. I completely fell in love with the ballroom overlooking the water with the fiber optic ceiling lights. We really liked the menu options, as well as the event manager, Eddie. We haven't decided about a wedding location yet, but this place was definitely one of our favorites. When we came for lunch with my parents, the food as all pretty good. I can't remember what everyone got, but there were no complaints. The bread basket had various yummy bread. We started with the calamari, which was good and not rubbery and tasted fresh. I got the crab bisque, which was so, so good, and the lobster grilled cheese. The lobster grilled cheese, while good, and while it had good components, was just too... something. I barely got through 1/4 of the sandwich. I also may have just been too full of bread, calamari, and soup. Overall, this is a great restaurant, in an absolutely adorable town. Chesapeake City is definitely a good place to visit, and the Chesapeake Inn is a great place to try.

The sirloin pizza was out of this world. It was SO good! I'd go back just to try a other pizza. The lobster roll sliders were ok. They could have used a bit more seasoning, but they were good. We couldn't even decide on which appetizer to get. There were SO many yummy sounding choices. Next time, I'll try the cheesesteak spring rolls! We sat outside by the water - VERY nice. Our waiter was great - fast, friendly and very attentive. Unfortunately, the menu on the deck (where we ate) is different from the dining room, so no choices of veal and steak for us. Maybe next time because we WILL be back!

Its been a long winter in the northeast - with a good day my wife and I were looking for a place to chill by the water. This place hit the spot. Great view good activity and decent food. Service was wonderful by the outside bar made possible by Britney.
(4)Nichole E.
I LOVE the Chesapeake Inn! I got married on the deck and had my reception in the ballroom a few years ago, and the staff bent over backwards to make sure everything ran smoothly! I was shocked at how much was included in the cost, which made it extremely reasonable. I cannot say enough good things about Eddie Greer and Melissa Marchione - they spearheaded the wedding efforts and they could not have been easier to work with! Absolutely fantastic staff, beautiful venue, and incredible food to boot! I've been back to the Chesapeake Inn several times since then, and every dinner experience has been fantastic. The food down in the casual bar area isn't great - actually it's shockingly different from the upstairs dining room! I expected it to be more casual, but I was surprised the decrease in quality from upstairs to downstairs. That's the only reason I gave it 4 stars, and the only "complaint" I've ever had. Highly recommend the Chesapeake Inn for a special event, or a nice dinner!
(4)Rodge B.
Great location on the water with decent food and a usually decent sized crowd. They have live music and a DJ on weekend nights, and they carry Bud Light aluminum bottles which is a plus. The biggest drawbacks are the lack of parking and pricey food.

First visit here - rating and review subject to change upon return. The one thing I noticed was that the Chesapeake Inn deck is all atmosphere. It's got a great tiki-bar vibe, overlooking the water, with plenty of open space to socialize and move around. Spending my evening there with a large group of friends as hilarious as myself, I had a terrific time. That said, I don't know that the terrific time I had was specific to the venue. I did notice that things were quite pricey. At the end of the night, we found ourselves gobsmacked by the bill. Everything we ordered was correct, mind you - it just seemed like a fairly ridiculous sum for what we actually received. Based on that check, I don't know that the wife and I would return very frequently; the food we had (mainly appetizers, crab fries and Mahi quesadillas) was perfectly acceptable, tasty even, but came in woefully small portions. We left hungry, as many other reviews have alluded to. But the vibe was nice. Unlike most popular late-night spots, we saw no fights breaking out or dramatic confrontations; always a plus. The breeze off the river was perfect. There's one thing I must address though - and again, grain of salt, as this is based on a single visit - and that's the quality of the entertainment. I don't want to call out entertainers by name, because I respect what they do (it's my field as well), but it seems that a place as popular and as pricey as the Chesapeake Inn can afford much better. When we arrived, the live band playing inside was being piped through speakers on the deck, and it may as well have been karaoke. (Hell, karaoke would have at least been interactive.) I stepped inside to watch them work, and it was a joyless, creaky affair; two folks half-heartedly swaying on the dance floor, and a band on stage unenthusiastically going through the motions. At around 11, a DJ took over, which turned out to be far worse than the live band - this may as well have just been some dude with an iPod. Awkward, jarring transitions between songs, poor song selection, and to top it all off, at least a dozen repeats. During a 2 or 3 hour set, how much room is there, really, to repeat multiple songs? It seemed severely unprofessional on the DJ's part, and disingenuous/careless on the venue's. That being said, I had fun, but I feel like that was more a mixture of atmosphere/company than the actual place. The quality of the night we had could have been attained at any dive bar - with the correct company, of course - and nothing would have been lost in translation. Except for about $80 of tab, of course.

I went here once for Mother's Day. The setting is great and the food tasted good. However.... when we left I asked my Mother about the meal and we were both still hungry. It cost over $100 for two and still be hungry?? Haven't been back to eat since! I do go to the outside bar and have had appetizers recently which was good. For my money I will go elsewhere to eat a main meal! Note to management: Your parking is a friggin joke!! Oh that's right what parking??

Ate lunch and the crab cake sandwich was very good. The atmosphere is excellent and the server was responsive. Had a great afternoon, but the bill was a bit high. All and all a great place would recommend.

I was at the Chesapeake Inn to celebrate my father's 75th birthday with a party of 12 for brunch. I would not recommend it for a big or small party. The waitress begain by spilling 2 drinks down the back of the person sitting next to me, and it got worse from there. . Our table went for 10-20 minutes without a waitres checking to see if we needed drinks or anything. The bread was served but then we waited 10 minutes for butter. Just badly executed all the way around. Finally they gave our table a second waitress who had more experience. The food took 1 hour and 15 minutes to arrive even though the place was not crowded, and half the plates arrived cold or tasted like they had been sitting for a while. They seemed to stretch out even bringing the food to the table for 10 minutes while we sat and looked at it sitting on serving trays 10 feet from our table. Then it took 5 more minutes for the last dish to arrive - a bowl of pasta for a 4 year old. Also when the food did arrive I thought the portions were pathetic for the price and the food was mediocre. And how annoying to have to pay $4 for valet parking and have no other real option in the 95 degree heat.

Crowded river inlet-side restaurant in a quaint little Maryland canal town The appetizer of Philly Cheese Steak Rolls were egg-roll like and a lot of fun. Servers were primarily college guys and gals who were generally friends friendly although our waitress acted as though she would have rather been doing ANYTHING else. But, who could blame her I suppose. We both had entree salads; One was a seared tuna salad which tasted less than fresh with an odd wassabi dressing. The tuna taste was off and the overall presentation of the food was somewhat poor. An entree' shrimp salad which promised wontons and grilled shrimp seemed to have been in a freezer for a week or two before taken out. This place is obviously really big with the local biker community; not the REAL 'bad ass' type of bikers, but the middle aged banker and lawyer types who play bad-ass bikers on the weekend. I'm not sure if this worsened the ambiance or gave it a hint of comic relief. If you visit, maybe you can decide.
(3)Charles R.
Nice place, good view on the water and very good seafood. I never know what to expect with a place that is on the water and doubles as a marina, but this was a nice surprise. The seafood was better than i've had at a lot of places, like the Chart House for one, and the servers and kitchen go out of their way to please you. Rockfish, which was a slight upcharge for lunch, was flaky, moist and not a bit greasy. The soft shell sandwich was excellent. If you're close to this area do yourself a favor and stop in. Lots of parking, all plastic and it sits right on the C & D Canal.

Came here for a wedding, and was overly impressed with this place! The ballroom is beautiful, with a lovely view of the water. The food was also delicious, although portions were big. Service was also great. This is a wonderful place to hold a wedding or other event!

Food was cold. Service was super slow.

My husband and I went for our anniversary dinner. I called three days before to make a reservation - the person who answered the phone didn't even know if they took reservations and had to find someone else for me to talk with. I asked three different people on the same call what the dress code was for the main dining room. None of them had any idea. The best answer I got was, "well its kinda dressy." What? So my husband and I drove over an hour and showed up me in a dress and heels, him in a sportscoat. We were WAY overdressed, there were people in shorts and flipflops walking around! We were seated next to a very loud group, in fact the entire place was loud. We could barely talk with each other during dinner. The service was slow. We saw our waiter a total of three times. Someone else brought our food, and yet another person refilled our drinks only after we stopped them. The prices were ridiculous and the food wasn't that good. I had cheese tortelloni and my husband had the crab cakes. Neither of us were impressed. We left hungry and without even considering dessert. The parking is absolutely insane. On their website, it says they offer Valet parking. What the don't tell you is Valet parking is the ONLY option for parking at the restuarant. On a busy weekend night, you won't be able to find a place to park in town, making Valet your only option. We waited almost 30 minutes for our car after dinner. What a waste of time and money - we will never go back.

I've been to the Chesapeake Inn many times over the past few years and usually it's a good experience. I don't paticularly care for the usual "MTV spring break meets Del Boca Vista"crowd but the food is pretty good and I like the setting (ie: being on the water) and the steady schedule of live music. The food, while good, is definitely over priced for what you get and considering the typical portion size. I get it that they're literally the only game in town and they enjoy a built-in clientele but paying $13 for a lobster grilled cheese sandwich with a smattering of fries is a bit steep. You can't slap a table spoon of the good stuff dead-center on the sandwich and add 2lbs of cheese to fill it out and justify that price. Just having the word "lobster" in the title doesn't elevate it to a $13 sandwich status. While it tasted good, the content & value didn't add up for me. Drink variety is ok and they did have Dogfish Head on tap which was a plus but the mixed drinks are even more over priced than the food.. and way too strong. Service has been good in the past regardless of how busy it was but this last time was a joke. It took 30 minutes before someone was willing to take my order and that was only after hounding the various staff zipping past me while trying to avoid eye contact. I know things can be less than ideal when a place is busy but CPI during this time of year is nothing BUT busy so this is not a new thing for them & expected better. I'm sure I'll be back at some point but I'm certainly less inclined to drive all the way from Wilmington if I can expect to get the same level of service & value that I do at the Flying J truck stop.

Years ago, we went for the atmosphere. Now, we go for the food. We always go upstairs to the fine dining area. The food is FANTASTIC. The crab dip is excellent! The bread is excellent! Recently, I ordered something that is not on the menu, but was 4 years ago. The chef made it and it was just like I remembered! It's pricey but so worth it!!

Lovely location on the water. Came with friends for a girls night out. 3 of us ordered rail margaritas which we clearly got. The waitress dropped the tab and left for the night. It was over $400. We were charged $15 a pop for top shelf margaritas we neither ordered nor received. I guess they think if you're out drinking you won't notice what's going on. We paid the tab and will never return!

So exactly where do I begin. First of all, I do want to say that as far as venue going this is a great location as I did work here in High School Valeting cars and ironically worked as a bouncer. So its a great venue but things have changed. So I haven't been back to Maryland in a while since I moved to Los Angeles and I wanted to celebrate my engagement party here with my fiancee who has not been here along with my family and friends. This was two years ago in 2011. Fast forward time and I haven't been back to Chesapeake City for another two years and wanted to go out with my wife and friend who I haven't seen since his wedding. We decided to start at another bar up the road and finish the night at the Chesapeake Inn. The night was going great and the great conversations were flowing until I went to the bar and asked for more drinks. I admit that these drinks were definitely more affordable than the typical drinks in LA so I was glad to pick up the rounds for my friends. I ordered drinks from the lady behind the bar and it was great. The night progresses and I tried to order another round from the young bartender but got completely ignored where there wasn't anyone waiting on a drink. I waved my card and wanted to order more drinks to which he said "You're a Jackass". So because my friend conducts business at the Inn for his company, he told me that the owner Gianmarco was in here. So I went over to him saying that a bartender called me a Jackass trying to order drinks. I saw him get up go behind the bar and tell another bartender. A couple minutes later, the bartender who called me a jackass said and I quote: " Great job telling my cousin I called you a Jackass" and smirked. As he smirked and walked away, I got called a "Chink". Now I know I haven't been back to Chesapeake City in a while but I guess a racist bartender is whats in at the Inn. This review is nothing against the venue or even the owner as he actually tried to do something. This review is more in lined with the bartender who is the cousin of the owner who I guess decided to revert back to 1940's racist tactics and call an Asian guy a chink. Congratulation on your ignorance. Now I am assuming I am going to get a reply email from Chesapeake Inn stating that their was a miscommunication between the bartender and I but I guess you have to protect the face of the company. So to recap: Venue = Good, Music = Good, I had a pleasant conversation with the DJ as I DJ as well, Drinks = Okay and affordable , Bartender (Racist)= 1 star

The food here is excellent. Crab cakes were delicious, steak was cooked to perfection as was the chicken. Service was fast an attentive. Inside of the restaurant is as beautiful as the view. I have also dined on the deck and the pizzas are amazing and the bartenders can mix up some tasty cocktails. Great place to go for a family dinner or a night out with friends.

My wife and I went there for a New Year's Eve dinner. There was a little wait pass our reservation time but it was a holiday night! The entire experience was fantastic! We had great wait-service, who was very helpful. The food was superb from appetizer to dessert! Their crab bisque soup was some of the best I ever had. The entire staff made us feel like family, the bartender even came around before midnight and offered up free champagne to toast in the new year! We were invited into the bar area to toast in 2011 with the owners and staff! Just a great place to have those special dinners. The lights on the canal added great scenery from their window. Overall we had a 10 out of 10 experience at the Chesapeake Inn.

After my bad experience, I would like to say that the owner personally called me to apologize and find out details of the evening. He was curious to who the wait staff was and what they need to do to improve. I find this being above what most owners would have done. It's good to know that owners are still involved in their business and do care about their customers.

I had my wedding here in the summer of 2009 and it was perfect. The food was great and they set everything up exactly as I asked. I've also been here several times for dinner and for brunch. This place is great all around. SIDE NOTE - If you can't afford to eat here DON'T. It's ridiculous to put negative reviews because you think it's too expensive. If that were the case, Le Bernardin would have 1 star for the prices. Seriously people.

This place is literally less then ten minutes from my front door and I love it! Food is great and reasonably priced and is always a great place to eat in the summer. Next time I'll be there is for my best friend's Sweet 16 party on May 7 in the prestigious ballroom! :D

This is a go to place on the water, you couldn't ask for better. The location, the music, everything is beautiful. The food is good, but not great. Unfortunately, they have priced themselves right out of my pocketbook. I like to have a good time, and love being on the water with all the boats, but it's just to darn expensive there. A couple can't get out of there for under a $100 bucks, and sometimes thats just pizza and drinks. Love to go there, but can't afford it.

We love the deck here! It is one of our favorite summer spots. The service is pretty good. We got seated faster than expected but was disappointed the waitress was too busy talking to her BF to not notice and appreciate the generous tip we gave her. I'll admit it's been hit or miss with the food. Tried the chesapeake pizza with crab and shrimp. Was told it was a crowd pleaser but I was not a fan. Way too much sauce and was overpowered with old bay. The crust was soggy and the shrimp was chewy. We love the crab pretzel and the tuna bites are our favorite. This time we got 2 orders! Drinks are pricy but loaded with booze and very tasty. Get on the mailing list and you'll get a free app or dessert on your anniversary! We got the chocolate lava cake. I was jacked up from the all the rum, reggae, tuna, and chocolate! Always great live bands and a fun atmosphere with an amazing view which makes up for the soggy pizza and unappreciative waitress. Definitely worth the 52 mile drive from NJ!

Took my girlfriend here for our anniversary and it was a great decision. Food was good, service was good, looking out onto the water from inside was a nice touch as we were seated right by the window. When we were done we went out to the deck for drinks and such and it was nice to not have to find something else to do because it was all there. I definitely recommend Chesapeake Inn as at least a one time visit

My friend got married here...the ballroom was gorgeous...and the view overlooking the marina/water was awesome. The staff was very friendly and the food was excellent. We had lobster and filet mignon with potatoes and some vegetables. I'm not a fan of red meat all that much, but I was after this! Definitely a great place to have an event...wedding reception, anniversary, baby shower, etc. I highly recommend this place. Afterwards you can always party more at the Tiki Bar downstairs like we did!

Positives: Nice restaurant with a big outdoor patio and mini marina to dock your boat and go in for some really tasty food. Negatives: Though food was pretty good the portions were smaller than expected. I had the crab ravioli and enjoyed it. I just wish there had been more of it. Some reggae band playing on the outdoor stage was a bit too loud (and not very good) making conversation a bit too difficult. Other: I understand this place becomes absolutely crazy one weekend a year during the so-called "canal day". I missed "canal day" by one day but judging from the preparations it looked to be massive.

My current summertime favorite, the Chesapeake Inn & Marina boasts 4-5 separate dining/drinking/music areas. My favorite is the outdoor patio with a complete marina style menu, a definite step above a normal bar menu. Food is good, not amazing, and crab-inspired of course. Pizza, crab cakes, sandwiches and much more. In summer, they provide an interesting mix of bands every night. calendar.chesapeakeinn.c… Next to the marina restaurant, there is a Tiki bar that has Guinness, Dogfish 60 (I believe),and your usual drink choices. The crowd on Friday/Saturday nights is not like the Newark college scene, unless you are talking about the wait staff. Instead it is chock full of a mix of blue and white collared 40+ patrons reliving the Spring Break of 1983. Not to knock it though, it can be a great time with the right people and the atmosphere on a stellar summer night. Chesapeake City has annual Canal Days at the end of June. I haven't attended yet, but it seems to be a large draw and the Chesapeake Inn is party central. Next to the outdoor patio where you can park your boat with the dock master...(Wait, do you park a boat? You probably should dock a boat and park your car with valet or on the streets. I am boatless)...there is an indoor bar that seems to be used more when it rains. The very formal/pricey italian/seafood inspired restaurant is located upstairs and offers a good view of the C&D canal, although not as good of a view as the Bayard House down the shore. Reservation recommended for a good table next to windows and a caution during sunsets, blinding at some tables. Next to the gift shop is a gelateria and ice cream shop. chesapeakeinn.com
